About   (request update)
Leila is the first generation American in her family. Born and raised in Washington, D.C. in a Senegalese household, Leila grew curious of the Black American culture, thus leading to her matriculation at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. "I envisioned it something like Hillman, but once I got to orientation, the waterworks started and I instantly reconsidered my decision of attending college." Her parents insisted she give it one semester and if she felt the same way, she could go somewhere closer to home with people she knew. Leila went from a shy out of state student who only hung out with her suite mates, which didn't last very long (females will be females), to an outgoing rising senior who came a few votes short of becoming the 82nd Miss North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. "A friend of mine sent me the link to this opportunity. I humbly made so great an impact on the young women around our campus through my campaign and platform, that I came to mind after this young lady received an e-mail regarding HBCU all - stars! That spoke volumes to me. I believe I am walking into my purpose and that purpose is to inspire and promote change in the world, where I see fit."
