Claim To Fame:
1. was the second Artistic Director for Karamu House in its 100th year history and the first in close to twenty years. Based in Cleveland, OH. it the oldest black theatre in the country. I brought the historical institution back into local and national recognition after a long drought. 2. I was recently elected as member of The HistoryMakers 3. Directing the late great Ruby Dee in two stage readings in Cleveland before her death; St. Lucy’s Eyes by Bridgette Wimberly and “From Breast Cancer to Broadway”. 4. Was selected Keynote Speaker for the 2013 USITT (United States Institute for Theatre and Technology) Conference in Cincinnati, OH. The international organization was celebrating its for 55th Anniversary p. 5.Directed the world premiere of “Objectively/Reasonable: A Community Response to the Shooting of Tamir Rice, 11/12/14” at Playwrights Local in Cleveland, OH.
Most Memorable Moment:
Performing at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC in Prairie View A&M production of the musical “Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope” fir the 1982 American College Theatre Festival. We were the first historical black college to be selected amongst 11 other schools that year in the history of the festival.
