I was born at three o’clock on a Monday morning, right on time as my parents jokes, since my mom was late and my dad was early. Though moving between Eden and Reidsville, the latter being my current home, North Carolina was and will always be my home. My family is quite small; it is only my parents, my sister, and me and my grandmother who visits us almost every day. Most of my education was received at home as well, with only having one year in a brick-and-mortar private school and all of my high school years online; all experiences that I thoroughly enjoyed. Also thorough out my life I kept busy by participating in cotillions from three to seven years old, to being active outdoors, and sewing and writing in my spare time.
As with most Black families, my parents knew that the medical field was for me, hence the reason why they named me Fatima. One of the many meanings of Fatima is “one who weans another” and “protects others from harm.” I knew that I wanted to help people, just not in the traditional college to medical school route. Growing up, I learned about different pregnancy and birthing stories within my family and friends, and realized that there is a health gap when it comes to Black feminine health; from there, my passion grew towards the profession of midwifery.
After finding my purpose, I am pursuing to attain my BSN. Afterward, I will attain my MSN with a concentration in midwifery to become a nurse midwife. Throughout this time, I plan to travel the U.S. and the world, helping and seeing everything that I can. With those experiences, I will use them to help build the infrastructure surrounding feminine health to offer the best of feminine care for underrepresented and impoverished communities in the United States of America.
Current Whereabouts:
Recently I started a vegetarian vlog and blog with my sister which presents people to a healthier way of eating and lifestyle by use of instructional and comedic videos and recipes.
