Claim To Fame:
Destney Johnson is the most dynamic high school senior I know. She is very involved on campus as well as her community total over 100 volunteer hours this year. I have no doubt Destney will have a bright future in her career of choice. She is a great role model and mentor. Not only does Destney meet the standards of an proficient student, she exceeds them. Destney's greatest technical accomplishment yet, is her assignment for this year, building up her very own computer at Computer Club on campus to give to someone in need.
Most Memorable Moment:
Attending the Grace Hopper Celebration was an very positive and significant impact on my career trajectory and community. I am a first generation college student majoring in CIS and minoring in Cybersecurity. My dream is to work for the CIA full time and become an member of their undergraduate program. This was my first time going to GHC and I feel that it provided the type of technical environment I am longing for, in hopes of networking and meeting other people who have the same interests as me. I was blessed to win an Honorable Mention award at Georgia Tech Hotel by National Center of Women in Technology and it was one of the best experiences I've had since deciding to join the Technical Community. NCWIT is the organization who has introduced me to GHC and other large Tech events. All in all, I felt very inspired and advanced to be around such wonderful and aspiring women in IT who remind of why it is important for us women to recognize each other in this day and time. Not only is it significant because a strong networking community is important in this type of field but also Rear Admiral Grace Hopper paved the way for us women to continue on her legacy of hard work and to appreciate all the opportunities we have before us today.
