About   (request update)
Life & Professional Aspirations:
My long term career goals consist of becoming a licensed therapist, social worker, and adoption worker for children. I have chosen these goals because I love helping children and want to have all the tools necessary to help in every aspect of their lives. My motivation for choosing these goals come from working with children my whole life. For years I have babysat, been a camp counselor, served on a missions trip, volunteered every week at my church’s youth nights, and will soon be enrolled in campus connections to mentor at risk youth. Almost every kid I have interacted with has felt safe, and was able to open up with me about the struggles they have encountered. I truly believe that all of the negative and positive experiences in my life have made me more compassionate, open, and given me the ability to help others. If it had not been for my missions trip to Mexico, I am not sure I would be where I am today. To see orphans in another country made me finally grasp how much help in needed not just here in America, but for children worldwide. After getting an education, I hope to take my learnings across the globe. If for some reason I am not able to make it that far, helping just one child will make it all worth it. My course of study at Colorado State University is psychology with a concentration in clinical/counseling. I believe this major is most fitting for me because it is helping me to learn more about why people behave the way they do, and how to be of help. In this major, I know I will learn lifelong skills of how to better interact with others. So far I have learned a lot about behavioral patterns, mental illness, and different types of therapy. I have never loved going to school and learning as much as I do now. Especially when I think of the kids I have helped and have yet to help, I feel even more encouraged to learn as much as possible, get my degree, and start giving back. In my career, I hope to help as many children as I can to the best of my ability across the globe. I truly believe I can have a large impact because everything starts with the youth. Just one kid can make all the difference in this world. Someone just has to have faith in them, and help them to grow. I believe I am that person.
