Activities & Accomplishments:
Debate, Poetry club, marching band, concert/ symphonic band, robotics, University of Michigan's Wolverine Pathways Program.
Best Memories:
My school is kind of lame and strict, so the best memories happened out of class hours. This year, I became student director. Last year, we had 0 performances and maybe a parade or two, so everyone assumed we went from the greatest upcoming marching band to the bottom of the barrel. They were right. The band went from 70 to about 12 and proper instruction was nonexistent. So, since I was learning about music at Oak Park High school, I decided to bring everything I learned back to Depsa. On top of that we got a whole new band director and I knew the season was going to pop off. Long story short we had our first battle in two years. Us vs our old band director vs three or four other bands. Everybody wanted smoke and so we gave them smoke. Representatives from schools like Jackson state and UAPB were in the audience and afterwards told us how we definitely won the battle. I was honestly probably over excited because I was interviewed afterwards and I deem it the ugliest thing I've ever done. I was bouncing all around with my energy, but I somehow ended up being the thumbnail. That was the best day ever for me.
