Best Memories:
My best high school memories would have to be all of the memories I made in my school's modern dance company, which has definitely had one of the biggest impacts on me. Starting out as a freshman I was very timid and not as comfortable with my self-identity but once I joined MDC I quickly fell in love with the openness and warmth of the community which helped me in opening up to the world and feeling more secure with myself. Everywhere I looked there was always someone to connect with, always a friend to gain. Even more so, there was always a mentor to look up to you and later on throughout high school I would soon realize that that is who I want to be; I wanted to be a leader, comfortable in her own skin that she inspires others to follow in her footsteps and grow into the best version of themselves. I would easily claim MDC as my second home. It's where I realized how strong of a passion I have for dance and also where I have felt how much more powerful being invested in something can feel when you share that same passion with many others around you that you have grown to trust and love. Now that I am captain I will continue to emphasize what MDC is all about which is being yourself and feeling safe enough in your own skin that vulnerability comes naturally and making mistakes isn ́t a negative but a step toward growth.
