About   (request update)
Good evening, my name is Robin Coley II I am 18 years old and I am a graduating senior at Chain of Lakes Collegiate Highschool and will receive my High school diploma and AA degree. Some things that are noticeable when looking at me academically is that my current weighted GPA is at 4.3 and the unweighted GPA is a 3.64, while my SAT super score is 1210. I have also taken the following classes: Biology 1 and 2, Chemistry (Highschool), Anatomy 1, Pre-calc and trigonometry and many others that have prepared me for the medical field.

My college of choice is the Florida Agricultural Mechanical University, which I have been accepted and my current career track is nursing. The reason why I choose this major is to give back to my community. I have explored several avenues on how to do this and the best way I saw to do this was in the medical field. I researched a couple of jobs to find the one which best suited what I wanted to do. After a while, I discovered that nursing is what I wanted to do. My reasons for choosing nursing is that I will be able to have meaningful conversations with patients, help to make them feel comfortable during their stay in the hospital and help them have a safe and efficient recovery.

I have been part of organizations that benefit my school and community. In the Winter Haven area, clubs and organizations I have been involved in are: PHI Theta Kappa; where I helped in setting stone in the garden at the mission, helped in setting up a venue at Heartland church for a fundraiser for a project called scholarship house, which prepares those that come from unfortunate background, for college life. I have volunteered at Winter Haven Hospital, where I have directed people to their destination, stock materials for nurses, and handled patients' information. I am a part of the National Honors Society at my school where I assisted with managing a booth at a school fair, selling bracelets to pay for kids education, and cleaning up a tutoring center called PEP. Another organization I worked with is my church First Missionary Baptist Church, where we created turkey baskets for those in need and participated in the church’s food drive for the homeless and impoverished. For this activity, I helped pack dinner plates to be served in the community and also went with two other people to take dinner plates to several locations where we knew the homeless, families in need, and low income people lived. In addition to this, is my job at the PEP Center (Polk Education Partnership) where I helped kids with their homework, assist teachers, and do janitorial duties if needed.

The reason why I am seeking this scholarship is that the cost of education has increased dramatically and has become hard for people to afford. In addition to this, I am not eligible for any Pell Grants as a source of funding. I am only eligible for loans, which can destroy a person financially; as interest rates can fluctuate and slowly start to rise over time. This scholarship will help with reducing my financial obligations.

Current Whereabouts:
What I am into is coin collecting, cycling, Roblox, and kayaking.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
My name is Robin Coley II and I am a 2020 graduate of Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School. The goals that I have are academic, community involvement, career, and health. My academic goal is to achieve high grades at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. My plans to achieve this goal is to come up with an effective study schedule that will afford me the opportunity to retain the large amount of knowledge that comes with a pre-nursing major. To help me achieve this goal, is my acceptance into the nursing LLC dorms on campus which will provide me with the opportunity to interact and connect with like-minded people with similar goals. This in the long run, will help in propelling me to achieve my academic and career goals. Since I will be far away from home, I would like to become involved in the community by participating in community service and school events. This will also allow me to network, which will enable me to better understand the community I have become a part of. My plans are to also seek out internships or jobs in hospitals or clinics that will provide me the opportunity to learn more about the healthcare field, thereby building my resume. My career goal is to become a nurse so I can give back to my community. I have explored several avenues on how to do this and the best way I saw to do this was in the medical field. I researched a couple of jobs to find the one which best suited what I wanted to do. After a while, I discovered that nursing is what I wanted to do. My reasons for choosing nursing are: I will be able to have meaningful conversations with patients. Make patients feel comfortable during their stay in the hospital. Help patients have a safe and effective recovery. In addition to this, my goal is to educate patients on how to manage their care after recovery and teach them how to take better care of themselves. Another goal of mine is to maintain a healthy lifestyle through dieting, exercising, and sleep. For dieting I will maintain the amount of carbs that I eat everyday (including healthy carbs such as oatmeal and fruits). In addition to this I will monitor the amount of calories I put in my body per day to make sure I do not overeat. For exercising, I will exercise everyday for at least thirty minutes or an hour (by doing things such as squats, cycling, lunges, etc.) and burn off a sufficient number of calories to maintain or lose weight. Furthermore, I will try and maintain a consistent sleep and eating schedule where I will not eat a couple hours before bed in order to give my body enough time to process the food I eat. Also, I will try to go to sleep earlier to make sure my body is fully rested, this will help to prevent the harmful side effects of a lack of sleep such as weight gain, memory issues, and concentration.
