About   (request update)
Leader - I was apart of the NWA MLK Dreamkeepers 3 years prior to serving my first term as president. The position was typically held by a graduating senior, to top it off, the group’s initiatives/projects became more and more like chores. Becoming the president as a Sophomore and changing the way we operate reassured how I saw myself as a leader. Age discrepancy didn’t come in the way of the increase in membership and attendance, more meaningful community service accomplished, or outreach expansion. Remaining in leadership has continued and I feel that this characteristic of mine is applied constantly across all boards.

Well-Rounded - Be it music, academics, hobbies, clubs, or even those I talk to, I think its best described as “a little bit of everything”. I definitely see it as an advantage, but it is really second nature to me. Having knowledge on different topics, genres, backgrounds, and people helps me in knowing how to carry myself as an individual. Someone who is open to understand and appreciate differences. That’s why I can bulldoze opponents in soccer games, but be ahead of all the guys in my computer science course.

Optimistic- If not for myself, for others. Sometimes all people have to hold onto is a smile, laugh, or words of encouragement for the day. I try my best to provide it because I believe in and out there is a brighter tomorrow. Replace that with any other cliche saying and I’ll stand by it too. There are so many hidden things in the works to bring people down and being just one to uplift makes a difference every single time. Keeping that positive attitude follows and is furthermore applicable in what you give to others.
Current Whereabouts:
Puzzles, playing bass, movies, movie breakdowns, braiding and styling natural hair.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
The world of math and science is competitive and currently very selective. We always want and advocate for the best of the best, but it is damaging when one constantly sees that the main qualifier for this motif doesn't look like you. That's why in my professional career, I plan on ensuring that the world of STEM reflects what the real world looks like in terms of diversity and inclusion. In addition, I’d also ensure that products are accessible to all and made for all. I will strive to find ways to employ technology to promote cultural awareness and benefit communities simultaneously. I want to work to bolster the number of black people in STEM and ensure technology gets to communities in need.

Best Memories:
Returning back to school, came with a cloud of uncertainty, and coming back to Student Council the group knew we’d have to become the source of a lot of answers. One, in particular, was “How could revive the dead school spirit”. Great question! How can you unite a body that cannot congregate? More pessimistic questions might’ve, and did infiltrated other groups and clubs at the school, but we still rose to the plate. I proposed to the council a plan that would spruce up the building, be covid friendly, and would motivate teachers, cafeteria staff, janitors, and students. As an alternative for homecoming and even holidays like Valentines, STUCO would deck out the commons area. In a place where no eye could miss, we’d have banners embellished, pillars decorated, and the balcony li; a correlating playlist (with selections from Post Malone to the Bee Gees) from would play during passing period and at lunch where stickers, necklaces, and tokens were handed out individually. To top it off, it was also cost effective! Being devoted to representing and supporting the student and staff body, our group curated a way to resurrect the school spirit in one of the most engaging ways.
