Shergaun Roserie is a rising junior mechanical engineering major who currently attends Howard University and maintains a 4.0 GPA. He currently maintains an active membership in the Howard University Robotics Organization, and is an esteemed member of the International Telecommunication Union Generation Connect America's Youth Group which aims to provide a unique participative process for youth to contribute to the work of the International Telecommunication Union in the Americas region. Mr.Roserie has taken a vested interest in empowering youth through the use of robotics and computer programming , as these are the skills which exposed him to several opportunities which assisted in both his educational and professional development. In 2016 Shergaun was selected to participate in the Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE) among 17 other gifted Caribbean students, which was held in Barbados. SPISE, which was modelled after the MIT MITEs program, exposed Mr.Roserie to university level courses as well as his first hands on experience with robotics. Upon his return to Saint Lucia in 2017, Shergaun was selected to serve as the team leader for the St. Lucian National Robotics team during the First Global 2017 Robotics Olympics. Upon his return to St. Lucia, Shergaun was given the opportunity to become part of a pilot group of teachers being trained in the use of the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robotics kit. This was the initial stage of USAID’s 3 year robotics initiative on the island, targeted at underprivileged and at risk youth. Mr. Roserie soon became one of the leading technical personnel within the program. From 2017 to 2019 Shergaun continued to work closely alongside the Ministry of Education as well as USAID officials, to coordinate further training sessions for the inclusion of more teachers and students into the program. Shergaun was responsible for hosting several training workshops throughout the 3 years. Upon the completion of the USAID project, Shergaun continued acting as an independent contractor. In 2020 Shergaun Co Founded his first business Orbtronics. Orbtronics is a technological company focused on developing St Lucia’s economy through STEM based programs and initiatives. The extent of Orbtronics’ initiatives take on three unique aspects which include prototype development, app and web development, and educational programs. During the summer of 2021, Shergaun interned as Product Design Engineer at Cummins Minnesota where he supported the military and rentals unit.
