I chose to attend an HBCU because I went to a predominantly white high school with only about 10 minorities. I knew that I wanted to be surrounded by people who looked like me and wanted the same things in life and that we would somehow experience the same things while trying to reach our goals in life. Attending an HBCU will help you help me meet my future goals in life in many ways. It gave me the connections that I can use for the rest of my life and real-life experiences that I wouldn't get from a book. It teaches me to love and embrace the melanin in my skin and to always remember where I came from and how I got there.
