I chose to attend an HBCU because I wanted to surround myself around my community. My mother graduated from Prairie View A&M University and she made the college experience at PV the best. I grew up around predominantly white people so going to a school with black people definitely was a culture change but I believed I learned more about myself. My future goals in life involve bridging the gap between mental health issues/ brain diseases and the African American community. Being at a HBCU allowed me to discover that we as African Americans still don't receive the mental treatment that a lot of other people get. I also want to be a known neuropsychologist, that is helpful to all.
