Claim To Fame:
As president of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Kettering Chapter, I coordinated a spring festival. This used to be an annual event. However, with Covid restrictions, it had to be discontinued. The chapter advisor spoke to me about bringing the event back, and we both agreed that it would be of tremendous value to the community. The Spring Fest was a festival that featured outdoor games, bounce houses, soccer, and similar activities as well as a STEM theme. The purpose was to engage the community, provide an avenue for Flint youth to learn about pursuing STEM and Kettering, and destress citizens after they had been shut in for quite some time due to Covid19. The event went very well with over 300 people attending. Ford motor company brought a race car and the new Lightning Truck, and Kettering's robotics department brought out a few robots to show. We had numerous other groups that also came out and showed support for the event. Here is a news report on the Spring Fest. https://midmichigannow.com/news/local/nsbe-host-spring-fest-at-atwood-stadium
