About   (request update)
I'm Ma'niya, a dedicated third-year student at North Carolina A&T State University, pursuing a degree in Finance. As a first-generation college student from a single-parent household, my journey in higher education represents breaking barriers and overcoming challenges.

Beyond my degree, I aim to secure internships at top companies, gain experience, and be awarded scholarships to support my educational journey. I'm passionate about entering the entrepreneurial world, where I can create a nonprofit organization. This organization would play a pivotal role in preparing younger students for their own journeys into higher education and the workforce.

Choosing to attend an HBCU was a decision rooted in my desire for a supportive community and a culturally enriching academic environment. As a first-generation college student from a single-parent household, the idea of being part of a community that celebrates diversity and promotes academic excellence was incredibly appealing. HBCUs have a long history of nurturing and empowering students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds like mine.

Attending an HBCU provides me with unique opportunities to connect with peers who share similar experiences and aspirations. The sense of belonging fostered within the HBCU community is invaluable, creating a supportive network that extends beyond graduation. Moreover, HBCUs offer specialized resources and programs tailored to the needs of minority students, including mentorship initiatives, career development services, and culturally relevant curricula.

By attending an HBCU, I am not only receiving a quality education but also gaining invaluable life skills and experiences that will help me succeed in my future endeavors. The nurturing environment and personalized support I receive at an HBCU will prepare me to navigate the challenges of the professional world with confidence and resilience. Additionally, the strong emphasis on leadership, community engagement, and social justice at HBCUs aligns with my values and aspirations to make a positive impact in my community.
