Before attending an HBCU, I did not comprehend the enormous impact it would have on me as an individual. When I got accepted to Spelman, my world changed. I chose Spelman because, at Spelman, no girl is the "odd one out". We are all intelligent black girls who are beautiful in our way. I wanted to go to Spelman because they advocate for black girls in ways of self-care and mental health. I knew it would make me become more outspoken and teach me that my voice matters what I have to say matters. Spelman will have me graduate confident in my capabilities to break the barriers society puts on black women. The sisterhood is something other colleges do not have. We relate to black women's social problems inside and outside the classroom. Spelman has been a safe space for many black women for years. We can be ourselves without feeling judged. We are taught not to shy away from male-dominated fields because when you're a "Spelmanite," the sky is the limit. We appreciate and support one another even if we never interacted with them because they are our sisters.

Attending an HBCU made me enjoy being African American and participating in the rich history.Spelman College is an excellent school for networking, and attending this school and making lifelong connections will help me achieve my goal. My HBCU will help me strive for the best and not settle. Overall, Spelman challenges me in my knowledge so I can be prepared for any industry and market myself.
