I chose to attend an HBCU because I wanted to be apart of a community that is both inclusive and diverse. I wanted to learn about my culture and the people’s backgrounds within them. Being at an HBCU makes me learn more about myself. This self-realization helps me plan my future goals by knowing my interests and what I am willing to do to achieve those goals.

 As a Climate Science Intern, I trained and tested different machine learning models like Multilayer Perceptrons to determine which was the best at classifying land cover types for agricultural monitoring, improving accuracy and efficiency. By implementing data pre-processing techniques such as normalization, I reduced model underfitting by over 50%. Additionally, I analyzed datasets from AVIRIS and ROSIS sensors, enabling vegetation identification with twice the precision of human methods.
