The reason I chose to attend an HBCU is because I wanted to obtain knowledge and learn life long skills from individuals predominantly from my culture and background. I knew that the opportunities and experiences that I would receiving attending an HBCU would not be as readily accessible to someone of my ethnicity at a non HBCU school. Lastly with my college journey being something very dear and important to me I wanted to make sure I surrounded myself in a family-oriented learning environment.
