A’Nija Hughley is a rising freshman at Spelman College, where she plans to major in political science on the pre-law track with a minor in sociology. While excelling in academics, Hughley has focused her time on social justice and advocacy, starting her school’s Black Student Union and as an ambassador for Justice for Black Girls, where she lectures and campaigns to end the discrimination that Black girls face on the personal and systemic level. She also has experience writing bills to help Black students receive representational justice and educational freedom. Hughley aspires to be a civil and human rights attorney while continuing her advocacy and policy writing work centering on the juvenile justice system and ending the school-to-prison pipeline.
