Throughout my academic journey, I have developed skills and experiences that align with my goal of becoming a veterinarian and opening my own clinic. I have gained knowledge in animal science, biology, and research methods, which will prepare me for the veterinary field. Beyond academics, I have been actively involved in organizations such as the veterinarian club and honor society, where I strengthened my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
My achievements also include volunteering in my community by helping distribute supplies and food to those in need, as well as mentoring and supporting youth in my church. These experiences taught me responsibility, compassion, and the importance of giving back. Combined, my skills and background reflect my commitment to both animal care an
My claim to fame in college will be my dedication to veterinary medicine and my commitment to making a difference both on campus and in the community. At Prairie View A&M University, I plan to stand out not only through academic excellence but also through leadership and service. I want to be known as the student who combined passion with purpose—working toward becoming a veterinarian while also uplifting others along the way.
I envision my claim to fame being tied to my efforts to advance animal care. My long-term goal is to open my own veterinary clinic and conduct research that creates more affordable and effective treatments for animals. By pursuing this vision, I hope to reduce the stress owners face when financial or medical challenges threaten their pets’ lives.
Ultimately, my claim to fame will be the positive impact I leave behind—helping save animals, supporting families, and inspiring others to pursue their dreams with determination.
Most Memorable Moment:
One of my most memorable college moments was spending time with my building sisters and forming bonds that truly felt like family. Coming to college can be overwhelming at first, but having a supportive group of sisters who encouraged me, laughed with me, and shared experiences with me made my journey unforgettable. We created memories not just through studying together or attending events, but also in the small everyday moments—late-night talks, helping each other through challenges, and celebrating each other’s successes.
These relationships became more than friendships; they gave me a sense of belonging and reminded me of the strength of sisterhood and community. My building sisters helped shape my college experience into something meaningful, and those connections will remain a part of me long after graduation.
I chose to attend Prairie View A&M University, an HBCU, because I wanted to be part of an environment that values not only academic success but also cultural pride, community, and leadership. HBCUs have a long legacy of producing leaders who are dedicated to service, excellence, and giving back, and I knew Prairie View would provide me with the supportive community I need to thrive both academically and personally. Being surrounded by professors and peers who look like me and share similar cultural experiences motivates me to push harder toward my dreams and believe that my goals are achievable.
Attending Prairie View will help me reach my future goal of becoming a veterinarian and eventually opening my own clinic. The education and hands-on opportunities offered here will strengthen my knowledge in animal science, biology, and medicine. I also plan to use research opportunities at Prairie View to explore better ways to care for animals, especially finding alternatives that reduce the number of times owners are forced to put their pets down due to financial or medical barriers. My goal is to discover innovative treatments that not only save animals’ lives but also ease the stress and heartbreak of their owners.
An HBCU experience will also shape me as a leader. Prairie View emphasizes leadership, service, and community engagement, which will prepare me to not only run a successful veterinary clinic but also to give back to my community. I want to use my resources, knowledge, and skills to educate others on affordable animal care, mentor future students interested in veterinary medicine, and serve as a role model for younger generations.
By attending Prairie View University, I am building a foundation that combines cultural pride, academic strength, and community service. This experience will give me the tools and confidence I need to achieve my dream of saving animals, reducing the burden on owners, and creating a lasting impact in veterinary medicine.
