My professional goals include pursuing a career that allows me to combine my love for research with mentorship, particularly for underrepresented communities in STEM. My claim to fame in college was being a dedicated student leader, STEM advocate, and creative force in campus organizations. As the president of both the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) and the Caribbean Pre-Alumni Council, I worked to recruit members, secure funding, and create a supportive community for young Black scientists while also educating students about the rich history and culture of the Caribbean. Additionally, as the social media manager for the Anime Club, I managed the club’s TikTok and Instagram, conducted interviews, and helped grow its online presence. Beyond my leadership roles, I conducted research under Dr. Chakafana and persevered through the challenges of dyslexia to earn my degree in biochemistry. Through it all, I remained committed to fostering community, promoting diversity in STEM, and leaving a lasting impact on my university.
Most Memorable Moment:
One of my most memorable college moments was the night I met my closest friend group over a competitive game of UNO. What started as a simple card game turned into hours of laughter, friendly rivalries, and inside jokes that have lasted well beyond college. That night marked the beginning of friendships that I still cherish to this day. Alongside these friendships, my time at Hampton was filled with unforgettable experiences—whether it was leading NOBCChE and the Caribbean Pre-Alumni Council, managing the Anime Club’s social media, or conducting research under Dr. Chakafana. But nothing compares to the bonds I built through spontaneous moments like that UNO game, reminding me that some of the best college memories happen when you least expect them.
