Most Memorable Moment:

Attending my first homecoming at Savannah State University. This first experience was most memorable because as an international student, the words HBCU homecoming and Tailgate were just words. But know, as I am about to beginner my Junior Year, these words mean, family, love, unity, pride, purpose and inclusion. I believe everyone on this earth should experience an HBCU homecoming. That first experience with the smell of the grills being lit, chicken cooking, seeing the different sororities and fraternities stroll to their songs, seeing alumni dance with current students and feed us for free, hearing the cultured music from the DJ and old stories from our adopted aunties and uncles (alumni), it is magical. It felt as if I was not just and international student attending an HBCU, I was a young educated black young woman living out her dreams of being a first-generation college student enjoying her HBCU college life.
