Life & Professional Aspirations:

Becoming an anesthesiologist is my ultimate goal. I strive to work in the health care system while providing safety and comfort to each patient I interact with. Although I am not who the patient is entrusting their procedure with, I am still a vital part of a team working together to improve a patient's quality of life. I am willing to put in the work to perform and perform well in a group of qualified healthcare professionals in a hospital or clinic. I will utilize leadership, listening capabilities, problem solving skills and open mindedness as I continue my work each day. Yet, before I am able to get to that position in life I must complete school first. I am currently a freshman biology major at Howard University in Washington DC. I do plan to earn my degree of biology in four years or less as well as graduating with honors. During my junior year I will start preparing to take the MCAT and my goal is to score exceptionally well. From there I will apply to medical schools such as Howard University’s own medical school and other schools like Tulane Medical School. From there my purpose is to excel just as well or better than I did while in undergrad with the ultimate goal of matching into an Anesthesia residency program during my last year. Lastly, I will complete an Anesthesia residency, ranging from two to fours years, and take my boards and certifications to finally hold the title of an Anesthesiologist. If I am to stay on track I will be able to achieve my lifetime goal of becoming one of the few Anesthesiologists to practice in the United States.
