Niah Lamar is a freshman at Texas Southern University majoring in Radio, Television, and Film with a minor in Communications. She is an aspiring film director and screenwriter who wants to tell authentic, emotionally rich stories about the Black community. With a passion for storytelling and representation, Niah aims to reshape how Black life is portrayed in media by creating films that center around joy and truth.

Current Whereabouts:

Right now, I’m really into writing. I also love baking, working out, and dancing in my free time.

Life & Professional Aspirations:

My life aspiration is to live authentically and creatively, always staying true to who I am as a Black woman and an artist. I want to use storytelling through film to uplift and reshape the narratives around Black culture.

My claim to fame in college will be becoming a student filmmaker whose work uplifts and reshapes the narrative around Black culture in the center of Houston.

Most Memorable Moment:

One of my most memorable college moments so far was attending orientation at TSU. Being surrounded by other Black students who were just as ambitious and expressive as me made everything feel real. I left feeling excited to start building the future I’ve been dreaming about.
