Jayla Allen is a rising senior at Clark Atlanta University majoring in Fashion Merchandising. With experience in costume design, marketing, and visual storytelling, she has interned with Lionsgate Studios and worked with fashion brands like WXTHESTRM and Hot 10 Music Group. Jayla is passionate about creative direction, set and wardrobe styling, and international fashion merchandising. Her skills include trend research, branding, and visual presentation, and she’s committed to inspiring young Black creatives through her work.

Claim To Fame:
If I had to name my claim to fame in college, it would be how I bounced back from one of the hardest setbacks of my life. After losing my academic scholarship due to failing a class, I didn’t give up. I worked three jobs that summer—at Lowe’s, Wendy’s, and Amazon—while also finding ways to manage my mental and financial health. I ended up regaining my scholarship, got back on track to graduate early, and stayed consistent with my goals in fashion merchandising. Since then, I’ve gone on to intern as a costume designer for Lionsgate Studios, work for a music and fashion brand, and I’m now preparing to study abroad in Paris this fall. Everything I’ve achieved in college so far has been through hard work, faith, and persistence—and that’s what I’m proudest of.
