My name is Jayla Wilson i am a driven marketing major at Alabama State University, expected to graduate in 2028 with a 3.3 GPA. As a first-generation college student, im actively involved in leadership roles including historian for the First-Generation Club and chair of the Social Committee for Alpha Kappa Psi. I have gained hands-on experience through internships with the Montgomery City Council and The Forum at Deer Creek, where I led community outreach, event planning, and senior engagement. I also serve as a mentor at New Beginnings Education Center. With over 200 volunteer hours, I raised $5,000 for Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and is recognized as a TMCF Scholar, Honors Convocation and Dean’s List recipient.

Claim To Fame:

My claim to fame in college is being a first-generation student who turned every opportunity into growth, leadership, and impact. I’ve taken full advantage of what Alabama State University offers by not only staying involved but by representing what it means to rise above limitations. From being selected as a Thurgood Marshall College Fund scholar to attending DevCon in Atlanta where I connected with companies like Delta, Honda, and Coca-Cola, I’ve pushed myself beyond my comfort zone. I traveled to New York through the TRIO program, expanding my perspective and strengthening my drive. On campus, I serve as historian for the First Generation Club and stay actively involved in Alpha Kappa Psi, TRIO, the Future Alumni Movement, and the Honors Convocation. My presence is known for showing up, leading, and staying grounded in purpose. Whether it’s helping other students, contributing to campus culture, or networking with professionals, I strive to be an example of what’s possible when you mix vision with effort.

Most Memorable Moment:

Attending Delta’s headquarters and museum was the most memorable thing of my college year so far.
