Claim To Fame:
My claim to fame in college so far is being a part of the You Lead Male Initiative (YLMI) and the 21st Century Advantage Program (21CAP). Through YLMI, I’ve been able to grow as a leader, give back to my community, and support other young Black men on campus. 21CAP, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, gave me hands-on experience in team collaboration, career development, and corporate exposure. Working closely with 20 other School of Business students, I sharpened my business skills, built confidence, and connected with professionals who’ve shaped my understanding of what success looks like in corporate America.
Most Memorable Moment:
Some of my most memorable moments in college have come from the incredible access and opportunities that being at an HBCU provides. Through programs like YLMI and 21CAP, I’ve grown both professionally and personally, but it’s the once-in-a-lifetime experiences that have really stuck with me. I got to witness Vice President Kamala Harris deliver her concession speech in person right on our campus. Even though that moment was sad because me and my HU community were really pulling for her to make history for us, it was so powerful and inspiring to see her give that speech to us with such a resilient and brave attitude. I also had the chance to attend an event featuring Stacey Abrams, where we had real conversations about voting, democracy, and the future of this country. A major highlight for me was our site visit to Johnson & Johnson headquarters in New Jersey, where my team and I got a behind-the-scenes look at the corporate world. And as a huge football and sports guy, meeting Shannon Sharpe and Stephen A. Smith when First Take filmed on campus was surreal. That’s my favorite show and I’ve been watching for years. Seeing them live was a full-circle moment I’ll never forget.
