Pathways Program Intern | USGA
From June 2025 to June 2025 • 0 year(s)
Throughout this experience, I learned a tremendous amount about the golf industry and the hard work that goes into hosting a championship. Through roundtables, panels, networking events, tours, and activities, I gained insight into player relations, operations, broadcasting, etc. One highlight was shadowing the course setup team. This allowed me to connect golf to my field of study, environmental science. I was happily surprised to discover the botany and physics that contribute to the maintenance and sustainability of a golf course. I also had the chance to hear from influential leaders of today. Cathy Engelbert, WNBA Commissioner, led a conversation on leadership and inclusion in sports, inspiring me to be curious, courageous, and a leader, no matter my position. Additionally, Fred Perpall, FAIA, current President of the USGA, delivered a deeply touching recounting of his personal journey toward success. He offered a moving message: “Life cannot be about you. You must build a life that serves others.”
