About   (request update)
Life & Professional Aspirations:
Ever since I was little, I've always loved putting others before myself, and I make that one of my key goals even today. Through my parent’s teachings of being a good servant unto others, I've learned a little kindness truly goes a long way. As the years went on, I fell in love with watching "Criminal Minds". While watching, I was always fascinated with the character's ability to solve difficult cases, aside from the classical TV drama, and bring closure to people. Therefore, with this field of work in mind and my parent’s impact, I knew my intended career would have to consist of being able to accomplish both these things, solving challenges and helping others. With this being said, I'm striving to be a part of the Criminal Justice field, and become a Crime Scene Specialist. More specifically, I want to be an agent on the scene that collects evidence to help other colleagues solve the case. With this career field in mind, I will continue to seek positive social change within my community through my kindness, leadership, and dedication for true justice. I will also continue to lend a helping hand to whoever needs it because hopefully, when others see me doing that, they will want to take part in such kindness as well. As far as my key accomplishments, I take pride and joy in my academics. I have maintained all A’s and only 3 in the early college high school program, while also staying active in my community. I was awarded both Honor Roll & Principal’s List, and my outstanding academic performance led me to become a member of the National Beta Club Society. With me being active in the community, most of these opportunities come from being a part of the clubs, The Black Student Alliance & Page Turners, at my school. I have been a part of the government for both clubs ever since the clubs were founded. For the Black Student Alliance, I was treasurer during my sophomore year, and then was elected Vice President during my junior and senior year. Within these positions, I helped keep track of our funds, while also helping the President plan service learning events. For example, our most common service learning event is packing and delivering lunches to Joy’s Soup Kitchen & the Community Crossroad Center in Greenville, NC. We contributed a vital part in serving approximately 300 meals a day to our homeless population in our local community. As far as Page Turners, as the planner, I help the founders organize volunteer events, while also keeping our members up to date on upcoming meetings. Our most enjoyed service learning project was preparing mini lessons and teaching them to the children at Elmhurst Elementary School in Greenville, NC. I personally enjoyed working with children with different intellectual abilities. I also volunteer at the Jackie Robinson Baseball League which serves underprivileged kids in the poverty stricken neighborhoods of Greenville, NC. It has been my honor to serve as a Youth Mentor in this organization for the past four summers. I have developed a great relationship with the community, along with the other volunteers who have become family. I was promoted to managing concessions, along with standing as a role model for players to ensure the atmosphere remains positive. These two clubs, and my volunteerism at the baseball field, are the most meaningful to me because I am given the opportunity to give back to the community while also connecting with my peers. Being able to do something for the good of others with the members of these clubs and organizations is something I really enjoy being a part of; therefore, I plan on continuing this desire to help and serve others at THE North Carolina Central University.
