Q&A With Amia Mallory

About   (request update)
Growing up on the South Side of Chicago shaped my interest in psychology and neuroscience. I saw how often mental health is ignored in Black communities and it made me want to understand why people think and feel the way they do. At Lindblom Math and Science Academy, I balanced academics with competitive cheer. Cheer taught me discipline, teamwork, and how to stay focused under pressure. I also participated in programs like MAPSCorps and the University of Chicago Urban Health Initiative Youth Advisory Board. Those experiences showed me how healthcare and resources affect different communities. This fall, I plan to attend Spelman College to study psychology with a focus on neuroscience so I can one day give back to communities like my own.
