Pat Simmons is the first recipient of the Katherine D. Jones Award, presented at the 2008 Romance Slam Jam in Chicago, IL, for humility and grace. She is a Jesus baptized Believer and received the Gift of Holy Ghost by the evidence of speaking in other tongues. She is a news writer and assignment editor for a St. Louis television station. Prior to that position, she worked as a talk show host, board operator, and news reporter for various radio stations for ten years. She will soon celebrate her twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, and she is the mother of two college students.

Pat Simmons is the co-publicist at Midwest Publicity, a two-woman public relations company. She handles media publicity for the yearly Romantic Times BOOKLOVERS Conventions and secures author interviews for such national bestselling authors like L.A. Banks, Bobbi Smith, Christina Skye, and Heather Graham via radio, television, and newspaper.

Pat Simmons holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from Emerson College in Boston, MA. Her hobbies/interests include digging up dirt on dead people while researching her genealogy. She is a closet collector of greeting cards and tears up when she sees fighter jets zoom in the sky, marking the beginning of a sport event.

Pat Simmons is nosy by nature. She’s known for making friends where ever she goes, and being the life of the party—only if there are four guests or less. Pat is considered a connoisseur of board games, and collects off-brand games that nobody wants to play so she bribes them with her tetrazzini. She praises God for the inspiration to write, and the “village people” for helping her get the job done. She is a contributor to the Essence Magazine best selling anthology, Love is Blind with Parry “Ebony Satin” Brown. She is the bestselling author of her debut novel Guilty of Love (September 2007). Her upcoming novels include Talk To Me (November 2008), and Not Guilty of Love (September 2009).
