Q&A With Sheri Crawley

(interview me)
Sheri Crawley
Location: chicago, IL United States

About   (request update)
Sheri thinks back to only a few years ago when she was busy with her high paying technical corporate job with hectic hours and strict deadlines. “I was so overwhelmed that although my husband and I were married for several years we tried hard not to get pregnant. We couldn’t imagine raising kids between corporate travel and stressed weekends. Not to mention that although we both had “good” jobs, we were still struggling financially with mortgages, car loans and American Express bills.”
In 2000, Sheri was downsized and decided to open a traditional brick and mortar business. Her café’ Dreams of Cream located in Southfield, Michigan, was more like a nightmare when it came to employee related expenses and high overhead costs. Sheri says” I quickly realized that small business ownership was no better than working for a major corporation, I was taking home a whopping $20 a day and that was the honest truth.”
After two years she sat quietly and asked God for the answer, she was in her thirties with no children, no money and no direction. She did however know very clearly, however, about what she didn’t want and that was no more blue suits and 9-5 schedules, no more rental property headaches and no more being trapped behind a cash register” It was after that prayer that Sheri said everything changed for the best. Within thirty days her café that she owned with her brother Marc Johnson, was sold for $75,000 and she was introduced to a home based business with Melaleuca, by her customer and current mentor. She immediately knew that this was a turn in the direction of our dreams. That was five years ago, now $1.2 Million later, Sheri is on the path of purpose.
Today Sheri and her husband Corey begin their day in their Museum Park town home in Chicago’s South Loop area, with breakfast together with their two daughters, Laila (two and a half) and Aliya (one and a half). Next it’s off to multitasking between business activities like conference calls and presentations along with music classes, gymnastics or an afternoon stroll along the lakefront.
A home based business is the business of my dreams as a mom. It gives me the freedom to spend more time with my children and also average over $250,000 for my family. I was impressed with the caliber of professionals that are now joining network marketing companies more now than ever before. According to many professors at the University of Illinois Chicago Network Marketing Program, one out of every eight homes now has a home based business. This is in part because of the uncertainty of the middle to upper job market and also because some offer residual income. As a matter of fact the Crawley's monthly residual income alone is $14,000 before any commissions or bonuses. The money is nice but it’s the peace of mind that is priceless says Sheri. My daughters will have more options than we did growing up because of the decision that we made to keep following our hearts to want a great life instead of a good life.
For those moms and families looking into the home based business industry, Sheri recommends finding a company with a great product or service that is broad and can be used in everyday life. The company should also have a proven track record for over five years. Sheri and her husband feel blessed to have over 4300 customers and she has found that a great personality and an even greater belief system will take you to your desired goals.
