Most Memorable Moment:
During my junior year of high school I partook in creating a group who intends on traveling to Africa for a cultural exchange. I took on the job of becoming the President/ Student Coordinator. Thread is a coalition of students, parents, and teachers who travel abroad annually where they use their skills and talents to take part in a cultural exchange at orphanages, schools, colleges, and universities. We performed multi-media plays that uplift, educate, and inspire; likewise the students in the host country perform for Thread. Both performances culminate with a question and answer session where information is shared about each country and its culture. Through travel and performance Thread weaves understanding, eradicates prejudice and broadens perspective. We worked on this project for well over a year, and the outcome from the hard labor was breath taking. The expenses for the trip was back breaking, where we endured in mass fundraising and cold winter days in front of stores such as Shoprite and Pathmark. I am proud to be apart of this group and direct it to success. Hopefully I will be able to raise enough money again to attend the trip with my fellow students in the year of 2006. If not, I will regret working harder, but will still feel accomplished from what I started. With a little dedication you can make anything happen.
