Hello, my name is Anthony Price and I’m currently a senior majoring in Electronics Engineering Technology at Texas Southern University. I decided to attend Texas Southern University to have the official HBCU experience, to receive a degree in engineering, and to escape the depressing atmosphere of my hometown. I’m from a single parent house hold and I have two siblings both of whom are older and younger that myself and are female. My eldest sister just received her LVN license and her and I both work to help support our unemployed mom and younger sister financially, while we both attend school. I just recently completed my junior year at Texas Southern University and paid for summer school with my own funds to try and graduate on time. I recently been taking out loans and going to school off of the Pell and Texas grant, but tuition has risen over 20% for the upcoming year and my Texas Grant was recently taken away from me by the school. I applied and ask about work study, but was denied because the financial aid administration at the campus claim it has to be awarded, and I see no reason why I don’t apply. I play football for the team here, but as a walk-on so the coaches act like they can’t help me in anyway even though I’m projected to be a starter on offense next season and it’s impossible to play football, hold down a fulltime job, and go to school full time in the fall because my grades will slip. I’m looking forward to graduating in December 2007, and landing a career with FAA after completing an internship with them next summer. Right now I just feel blessed and thankful that God has gotten me this far, but I still have a ways to go before the journey is over. If I receive my degree I will be able to put the money that I will be earning to good use by helping my mom out with her bills, putting my younger sister through college, and giving back to those who helped me along the way. I know with your aid and help, the assistance from your organization could really help me out with my financial situation. Even if I’m not choose as a candidate I know whomever you choose will gladly appreciate the help you’ve given them.

Most Memorable Moment:

My most memorable moment in college had to be when I probated in front of the entire school this past spring and everyone found out that I had become a member of Phi Beta Sigma, Fraternity Inc. There was so many people walking up and giving their congrats.
