About   (request update)
Current Whereabouts:
I am currently a sophomore at Spelman. I live on campus. I am open to new ideas. I am learning academically and socially at levels i did not even know existed. I am blooming into a flower of education, transformation, and dedication.
Education   (request update)
Spelman College class of 2009
Undergrad Major: Psychology
Claim To Fame:
My claim to fame began the moment i enrolled in Spelman College. That was the moment I realized what I was actually capapble of achieving. My first goal is to complete my first book. I began writing it very recently. It focuses on "being black" and how we are perceive in society, for the good and the bad. I basically take personal experiences and in a sense "motivate" the Black community as a whole to stand up and be heard. Our voice is far to precious to continue to be ignored. Upon graduation at Spelman, I will continue to receive a doctorate degree in psychology. As a psychologist, I plan to commit to my community and offer a different perspective of what a psychologist really is. I am not just going to be sitting around asking, "How does that make you feel" all day long. I know that I want to be an example to everyone out in the world that let's them know, YOU CAN DO IT. You can come from the bottom to the top. I come from a single parent home, where my school cost more per year than my mother makes a year. If you set your mind to it, you can accomplish the most crazy goals, no matter what societies tells you. I want to be that inspiration to the child who has been told he will never be anything, to the girl who has been told she is worthless. My claim to fame will be educating others on the "fame" they possess inside.
Most Memorable Moment:
"No means no!" I saw a huge crowd of mostly women marching and chanting on one accord. They boldly held up signs that spoke out against rape and sexual assault. The fact is that a girl on our campus had recently been raped. This mob of women knew who they were, they stood firmly in what they believed. This inspired me. I realized that now is time to speak for what you believe in, stand up for your rights. Whether they are being physically or mentally violated, you have the power to address the situation. This is my most memorable moment in college because it epitomizes what college is all about. What is the point of being educated if you don't educate others? What is the point of knowledge if it can't be shared with others? The fact is there is no point to education if it can't be applied to life situations.
