To you what is the first rule of getting to know someone?
"Interesting question. I think for me the first rule is giving what I hope to receive; opening up, allowing them to get to know me, being real, being honest, being sincere. As I seek to develop relationships I desire to foster and maintain them only with those who "show up" as full partners in the relational development process; they are open about who they are and who they hope to become. I recognize that everyone has baggage and issues and I don't believe we should overwhelm each other from day one with all the drama that we have experienced throughout our entire lives, but being genuine with people and not making major compromises with yourself to get to know someone is what allows you to fully experience and appreciate yourself while simultaneously doing the same thing for others. It is the essence of acceptance and the foundational block in building healthy and intimate relationships."
