I was born in Lucedale, MS. At age 2, my twin brother and I grew up in Jackson, MS. We remained there until our high school graduation. I feel that I am special because I was raise in a family of educators of which I am one today. I was exposed to music (piano). I was a loner and I did a lot of writing and reading. I was not in the popular crowd during my elementary and High School years in Jackson, MS. I was taught to keep my eye of the prize be it spiritual or physical. I still do.

Current Whereabouts:
Currently I am having my first book signing in Evergreen on May 31, at the Evergreen Public Library. I plan to have a second on June 6, at Linda's Gift and Flowershop in Evergreen. I have written a poetry book called "Words to a Beautiful Sunset" sold on Amazon.com and Xlibris.com. I also have a children's book coming out in June. I will keep you posted. On Monday, Nov. 17, I read some of my stories from my book to a class of third-graders at a local elementary school. They were celebrating National Reading Month. I was invited by one of the Reading Coaches as a so-called celebrity in the community. It was really enjoyable by both the class and myself. It was also a great way to see if my book was any good. Life & Professional Aspirations:
I have been and educator for the past 21 years. I have held the title of Teacher of the Year for my county. While attending Alabama State University, I was inducted into the Kapp Delta Pi Honor Society. I am a member of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity InternationaI and also Phi Delta Kappa Sorority, Inc. am now seeking to become well-known author and poet. I have written and published two books, "Words to a Beautiful Sunset" (poetry), and "The World According To Buckey" (Children). (Amazon.com)

Most Memorable Moment:
Receiving my Bachelor of Education Degree from William Carey College in MS. Walking across the stage to receive my Master of Education and my Education Specialist Degrees. The later was the first degree my mother had been able to attend. Pledging into Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. Being inducted into Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Society.
High School: Wingfield High School in Jackson, MS class of 1975

School Newspaper - poet, Library-Assistant, Class Musicals, School Choir, Civitan Club Award (English), Speech Key for 1975
Best Memories:
Not knowing that I would receive the Civitan Club Award(gold key) at my high school graduation - this was my very first award in academics.

Hi Marilyn! Just wanted to say Hello! Very impressive Bio. Good to see that God has His Hands in your process!!! I have been to ASU 2 times. Had a good time at HC. . I was last there for HC/2012. The same year they open their new Football Stadium. Took some great photos at HC. My best friend here in Cleveland Oh is a ASU Grad. I know the ASU Band Dir. He was our former Band Dir at Central State. ASU Marching Band is so Awesome!! Take care. May the Lord Bless & Keep You!!
