I am 22yrs old, I am just one of six children raised in a single parent home. For the first 8years of my life I witnessed a physically abusive relationship between my parents which resulted in the divorce. Since then over the I've seen very little of my father, which in a sense saddens me. However, I'm the kind of person that lives by the motto "it is what it is"; everyone is responsible for their own actions, and I can't let the decisions of one individual affect the way I live my life.
I am extremely creative, I love doing things with my hands that allow me to release my "harnessed energy" through creativity. It could be through cooking (which I absolutely love doing), drawing with all times of media (favoring charcoal though). I express my creativity from doing all kinds of cosmetological techiniques; it could be through designing/making clothing. The first article of clothing I made was for my Barbie dolls-we were poor and I made the best off what my 10 yr old mind could come up with. Making clothes when to building a scaled replica of a dollhouse that I wanted out of cardboard boxes and discarded toilet paper rolls.
I suppose after that comment I should say that my randomness makes me,,,,well ME!
Most of all, I love learning all kinds of things and sharing them with..well, anyone who seems willing to listen. That's one of the reason why I volunteered a Sunday school teacher for over 5years, it wasn't just to teach/share with people about God; but to also share with them my life experiences. I've been through a lot and have over come even more when the odd weren't in my favor. Like me being in my last semester of college; not only am I the first in my family to receive an Associates degree, but I am the first in my entire family on both sides to attend a 4yr-University and not God willing, wil be the first to receive my Bachelor's degree.
Current Whereabouts:
So far over the passed 2years I've been really into learning foreign languages such as japanese and italian& brushing up on my french; ever since my first airplane trip to NYC I've developed a new-found love for it.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
When I was in 8th grade I had an epiphany to create an organization (for lack of a better word) that would help people from all walks of life to get back on their feet. Which, judging by the state of our economy, was meant for me to do. This was the whole reason I decided to major in business in the first place, not only is business a very versatile major, but it is also a very versatile career branch.
I want to give myself at least a year after graduation (to experience life) before I jump in head first with my plan.
I want to be able to not only help struggling members of my community and those surrounding it, I want to help students pursuing high education and careers in other industries by providing work experience. It all seems a bit jumble I suppose but I can't really summarize 9yrs of detailed thoughts into a brief overview of 'Aspirations'. But I will say this; I don't want to be crammed into the figurative "box" and doing the same thing day in and day out.
I would eventually love to work as an administrative assistant or even as a case manager at a children's home, or quite possibly a teacher( I eventually plan on going back to school for a bachelor's in education).
My overall personality; I came is as a SPRING transfer student and it was really hard for me t get involved with organizations because everyone knew everyone so I never got to experience that "first day feeling". As I got further into the semester, one of my teachers pulled me aside and she took an interest in me saying that I would be perfect for this group that she wanted to organize at our school: Women In Business. I am one of the founding members (5 in total), who actually stayed on since pitching the idea (about 2 or 3yrs ago) and saw this group through to what it is today.
Most Memorable Moment:
I think my most memorable college moment has to be homecoming week. Sad to say that I haven't been involved much in the whole "college experience" because well....-when life hands you lemons...- This semester I am dedicated to making a complete change, it's my mission to be involved with as much as possible.
High School: Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL
class of 2007
Activities & Accomplishments:
I was Executive Editor & Section Editor &photographer of the DHS Yearbook.I was also a member of french club. I was also always an honor roll student graduating with a 3.8.
Best Memories:
My best memories span through out my entire high school career, so much has happened-- from making friends with people that I never thought I'd even talk to; to having conversations about life with teachers. I think what I most enjoyed was taking pictures for the yearbook at watching people come up with the most odd yet creative poses.
