Jasmine Edna Guy
A young woman destined to change the world by improving the lives of women and children, Jasmine Edna Guy is a staunch advocate for educational access and opportunity. As a natural leader, she noticed that communities are suffering and are no longer safely anchored to solid principles. Concerned that Chicago communities are beginning to drift without a clearly defined road map, Jasmine answered her calling through community activism. Guy is committed to bringing lasting, personal change into the lives of women and children.

Through solving problems, creating new initiatives, and forming partnerships at the intersection of community, business, and not-for-profits, Jasmine Guy has managed 500+ volunteers, fundraised over $250,000 for worthy causes, and designed 100+ events and programs. Through her service in the community, Jasmine has proven that young professionals can make a difference through leading by example.

Jasmine Guy is active on many boards in Chicago. She is currently the Vice President for Membership for the Steppenwolf Theatre Auxiliary Council, whose primary goal is to expose Chicago Public students to the Arts. She is also the 2nd Vice President for Fundraising for the Women’s Board of the Chicago Urban League, a member of the Bronzeville Lighthouse Charter School, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College. Guy also volunteers and sponsors an annual toy drive with her family for the women and children at the Institute for Women Today—Maria Shelter in Chicago’s Englewood community. She was also a member of the Young and Powerful, which was influential in mobilizing young people to register and vote during President Obama’s first presidential election.

Determined to change the world, Jasmine attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Psychology and English with a minor in Comparative Women’s Studies. While at Spelman College, she entered into the political arena and worked on the mayoral campaign to elect the first African American woman as mayor in the city of Atlanta, Mayor Shirley Franklin. She also served on the Student Government Association and was a member of the Spelman Spotlight newspaper as an Opinions and Editorial columnist. Guy earned her Master of Arts degree in Human Resources Development from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2006 and professional certificates in Strategic Communications in 2010 and Project Management in 2011 from the University of Chicago. Following her graduate studies, Jasmine interned with the Illinois State Senate on the Communications and Research staff. Jasmine Guy is currently a Training Specialist at the University of Chicago and the Assistant Business Manager at Ivy League Tutoring on Chicago’s South Side.
