About   (request update)
Fredrick W. Lee is a certified internal auditor (CIA) and certified fraud examiner (CFE) with more than 14 years of compliance auditing experience. The Texas-bred and Pittsburgh-raised Hampton alumnus is the Assistant Regional Inspector General for Audit (ARIGA) for the Los Angeles office of the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General. As the ARIGA, he is responsible for supervising audit teams that conduct audits of HUD participants and entities within the regional jurisdiction of Hawaii, California, Arizona, Nevada, and the Pacific Islands. In May 1999, he graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. In June 1999, he started his government career with HUD OIG as an auditor for the San Francisco office. In September 2004, he was promoted to senior auditor for the San Francisco office. In April 2012, he became the ARIGA for the Los Angeles office. While at HUD OIG, he has participated in more than 25 compliance audits of mortgage companies, public housing authorities, multifamily operators, and local and state governments that administer HUD funds. His participation in these reports resulted in identifying more than $300 million in cost-savings, unsupported or ineligible costs that affected the administration of HUD programs. In addition, he provided outreach efforts that included career recruiting, training opportunities, and meeting with public officials that helped enhance HUD OIG’s mission. His years with HUD OIG have taken him to travel duties throughout California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, Guam, and Washington, D.C.

Along with supervisory duties, he is part of HUD OIG’s focus group tasked with the development, training, and implementation of the organization’s new automated audit program, AutoAudit for Windows. This new program replaces the organization’s previous automated audit program, allowing more efficient and consistent work products.

Currently, he resides in Inglewood, California. As a season ticketholder, he frequently travels to the San Francisco area to attend San Francisco 49ers’ games. You can find Fred on Twitter at @FredrickWLee or LinkedIn at www.linkedin.com/in/fredrickwlee.
