Q&A With LaShea Davis

How can love be mistaken for lust? *(always wondered this)
"I believe that love is often mistaken for lust because there are more people out there who don't know what Love is. They know all about the physical reactions they have to others and have not taken time to understand the emotions because they think it makes them weak to have genuine feelings that are positive and nurturing for other people."

Interviewed by Danielle Holman 07/18/08

What are your interest?
"My interests are finding ways to improve the education system so that it is more sensitive to the different ways people learn. It seems that as it stands the system expects children to all learn in the same way, and we all know that that is not how it works. The education system should have tests that show how each child learns; whether it's through reading, hearing, hands on, or a combination of the three. Then use those techniques to make she each child has an equal chance for success. These things should be done early on; like in Kindergarten or first grade. What do you think?"

Best Memories:
During Black History month the black students in a predominantly white school put together a play with a choir about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. At the end of this play a young man named Damian (beautiful man he has become BTW) gave the "Dream" speach and delivered it well. He brought us all to tears and we finished up with a choir that was beyond words. That was my best day of high school. I will never forget how privileged I felt to be a part of something so wonderful. I was proud to be black and have been ever since. Thank you Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Phillips you both made that day possible.
