About   (request update)
“Be the CHANGE that you want to see in the world.” – Gandhi

Each day, Debbie Christina Origho strives to emulate the above quote in all that she undertakes. She was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL and is a proud panther of Dillard High School (Class of 2004 honors graduate). Her time at Dillard exposed her to the power of community service and as a result, Debbie has always taken into consideration how her actions can make a difference in the lives of others. With that in mind, Debbie joined Student Government, served as President of the Women of Tomorrow, Regional Vice President of Business Professionals of America, Year Book Editor-n-Chief, and was voted Miss. Senior 2004 by her peers just to name a few.

After earning her High School Diploma, Debbie went on to become the first person in her family to earn a college degree. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the historic Howard University (HU) in Washington, DC. She majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in African American Studies. During her tenure, Debbie served as President of the HU Association of Black Journalists, Senior Producer of WHUT-TV SPOTLIGHT NETWORK, 2nd Vice President for the Chapel Assistants, and Ivy Leaf Reporter for Alpha Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She also interned at NBC 6, NBC 4, FOX 5, and the National Geographic Channel.

Upon graduation, Debbie moved to the Atlanta, GA with her fiancé, Wilson Manigat, and currently works at CNN as a Guide in the Inside CNN Program. She is learning how to transition from the Editorial side of the media industry to the Business side in Sales and Marketing with hopes of becoming a President/ CEO of a leading Cable or Broadcast Television Network.

Her latest project is a fast spreading blog named “Infinite Gen”, which can be found at www.infinitegen.blogspot.com. Infinite Gen brings together some of today’s most out spoken leaders whose aim is to inform, uplift, and empower as we discuss a variety of issues concerning our generation today. One of the blog highlights is an interview with Michelle Duster, Great-Grand Daughter of Ida B. Wells.

All in all, while Debbie attributes all of her success to God- she knows that He is not done with her. She feels that she should be doing more to serve her community and consequently, found City Year. In the end, Debbie is excited to be returning to South Florida and looks forward to making a positive impact in the lives of all whom she encounters.
