Claim To Fame:
I came to NCCU with a very poor academic background. I didn't know if I belonged. I graduated 4 years later believing I could take on the world. That was a helluva transformation in 4 years. I owe it to Caulbert Jones, Earlie Thorpe, Ernest Manasse, Russell Adams and others. They blew my head up like a balloon and I haven't been the same since. Based on my personal experiences I know the untapped potential in black youth. Someone needs to reach them.
Most Memorable Moment:
During the second semester of my senior year (Spring '70) we organized a boycott of classes to force the administration to deal with a list of student demands. We received a response from the administration as well as a court injunction forbidding us to assemble. None of us was kicked out of school and we all graduated on time. That was bold. It changed the landscape and gave students much needed respect. Hopefully that level of zest is being continued.
