Throughout my life I have been proud of my heritage, and sought to share it with others. As an accomplished artist, my works highlights black excellence and draws from my experience as a black man in American, along with the experiences of all who I meet. That is why I chose to attend an HBCU. I long to expand my network, and draw inspiration from my fellow students of color, along with having opportunities to be a leader in college associations. As a natural networker, I believe that by being an alumni of a HBCU I be able to form immediate bonds with others who are proud of their heritage throughout my career, which will be an asset as build a career in the competitive field of graphic design.

As a artist, musician, and gamer, I have already seen the value networking with other people of color and gained a plethora of opportunities in these fields, due to my instant common bond with others of color because of our shared history. I also seek the unique curriculum provided by HBCU. As a graphic design, I will need to draw on diverse imagery and create emotion in order to excel and become a leader and innovator in my field. At an HBCU, unlike at other universities, black history, religion and music are ever present, which will enable me to broader my historical and artistic knowledge to better develop emotional and impactful graphic arts creations in the future. Only at an HBCU will I have the support, common bond with my classmates, and ability to broaden my background in both arts and academics effectively. This is critical to me as I continue on my path towards being a world-renowned graphic designer grounded in black culture and history.
