About   (request update)
My name is Jalessa Noel. I come from a single parent home in San Diego, CA. I was raised by my mother who graduated from UC San Diego but was unable to work because of a severely disabled son and the stress of having a job with four babies all by herself. All of my aspirations and goals for myself are pretty much because of the struggle my mother went through to make sure that despite her inability to provide us with a lot of opprotunities financially, she was able to give us a lot of guidance and opprotunities educationally and socially. Because of her, I was able to discover my passion for children, have faith that I would be able to get into the #1 public school in America with or without money, and establish myself as a determined, young, black women in society. Thanks Mommie. Love you :]
My Interview Question

Current Whereabouts:
SCHOOL, my new job as an intern for the African American Student Development Office at UC Berkeley, building up my relationships with old/new friends and family
Life & Professional Aspirations:
Once I'm out of college I plan on "taking a break" for at least 1 or 2 year(s) and being involved with AmeriCorps' Teach for America in New Orleans. From there, I plan on going back to my hometown, San Diego and going to Medical School at UCSD so that I can use my Psychology major and medical background to become a child psychiatrist. After I get myself grounded in a productive career path, have a decent house and car, I like to get married and start a REALLY BiG family.

Most Memorable Moment:
The "Jena 6" Rally that my suitemate organized. It was really inspiring to see a black, female, college freshman organize and host such a controversial event and have such a passion for justice and equality.
High School: Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, CA class of 2007

Activities & Accomplishments:
African American Student Union President 2006- 2007 Infant Center/ Preschool/ Elementary School Intern 2004-2007 Bank of America Scholar (Child Development) 2007 Graduating GPA: 3.5 Safeway/VONS E
Best Memories:
Lunchtime :D Not just because it was time away from class but because of my friends and the relationship that we all had with one another. We were probably the most diverse group on campus; two of us black, one jewish white, two philippino, one russian & indonesian, two mexican, and one black, chinese, and white. All the other groups were extremely racial and economically divided. I appreciate our indifference to the prejudice.
