About (request update)

I grew up in Greenburgh, New York, which is a suburb in Westchester County about forty minites outside the city (not upstate). i come from a wonderful, close knit family with two parents, both still living, a brother sister, and a nice and nephew.
Currently I homeschool my niece and nephew, 16 and 18. Before that I taught elementary school for eight years. My true passion is for writing, something I have been doing since I was eleven years old.

What do you like to do for fun?

Current Whereabouts:

I love to read, but writing is my true passion. I write what most would conside "chick lit", stories about African-American women, their relationships, and friendships

Life & Professional Aspirations:

I hope to one day become a published author. I would also like to either go back into classroon teaching or start my own after school program.

Most Memorable Moment:

Being with my sorors, going to stepshows (I couldn't step so I never participated), and doing party strolls

High School: Good Counsel Academy in White Plains, NY class of 1991

Activities & Accomplishments:

The Black Awareness Club, Yearbook Committee, Writer for the School Newspaper, Spanish Club, Ring Day Committee, Big Sister/Little Sister Committee

Best Memories:

There are too many to choose from, but one of the best was my ring day ceremony where I received my class ring. We got to go out to celebrate then went to the Apollo theater in Harlem that night for a concert. Another would be my senior year of high school for field day. It was on Halloween and all the seniors dressed up for a costume contest. My friends and I were the Jackson 5 and we won third place.
