About   (request update)

MARSHA COLE

My personal credo is, “take advantage of every opportunity placed before you and always do your personal best.” That’s how Ms. Cole began her career behind the scenes in the entertainment industry at the age of seventeen.

In 1987, Ms. Cole was involved in the inaugural year of an exciting internship program for minority students called Y.E.S. TO JOBS (Youth Entertainment Summer). She interned at 1580 KDAY (legendary urban radio station in Los Angeles) and A&M Records in the Product Management and A&R Departments. Through the encouragement of her mentor John Mc Clain (Sr. VP of Black Music/A&M Records), Ms. Cole began her tenure at Tinsel Townsend Productions. There, she had the opportunity to work on many film projects, most notably the hit film The Five Heartbeats, written, directed and produced by Robert Townsend.

Ms. Cole was the Program Manager for the Y.E.S. TO JOBS program. Her responsibilities included interfacing with top entertainment industry companies to secure job opportunities for students; coordinating with high schools and community organizations to identify potential candidates, and organizing seminars for participants. Ms. Cole has been responsible for innovative program changes at Y.E.S. TO JOBS including instituting a journal requirement for YES participants, creating an alumni organization, professional development seminar series and alumni referrals for permanent positions.

Currently, Ms. Cole is a Staffing and Recruitment Representative for Workplace Hollywood. Workplace Hollywood is a non- profit organization dedicated to developing, training, and placing a qualified and diverse workforce in the entertainment industry.

In her spare time, Cole volunteers with youth preparedness programs throughout Southern California. She is a sought after motivational speaker and trainer for youth career preparation. “We need to prepare our youth for careers and provide them with the necessary tools to compete in the marketplace. It is my goal to do just that,” she says.
