Reverend Delores Lewis Thornton is a Minister of The Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Indianapolis, After her youngest daughter completed graduate school Thornton pursued a higher education at an HBCU, Simmons College of Kentucky where she majored in Christian Education. She was named Class Valedictorian, an honor no female student had ever achieved. Class of 2008.
Thornton continued to enroll in Christian schools finally attending Christian Theological Seminary at Indianapolis from 2012-2014. She was privileged to have had the opportunity to study at an HBCU; it kept her grounded in who she was and who she would ultimately become—a licensed, ordained minister. Called to ministry in 2007
