Q&A With Kevin Gunnells

What is your number one goal in life?
"Hello Ms. Giles, my number one goal in life is that in which God has called me to do, and that is to promote unity between the body of Christ in order that we may make an impact on our communities. The direction that things are going today, I do not understand how we in the church continue to operate in the same manner we have for years, ignoring what's going on all around us. It is only when I do that in which I was created for that will bring my heavenly Father the most glory."

Interviewed by Glenda Giles 09/02/08

Do you believe in God?
"I not only believe in God, but I fell in love with Him back in 1993, and have been diligently pursuing Him ever since. I have several love letters that I have written to the man I fell in love with. The man who redeemed me from my sins unto a life of eternal happiness with Him. HALLELUJAH!!!"

How do you feel about the educational disparities in the US between African American communities and predominantly White communities?
"I think that it is utterly shameful the way that we are still treated in this country, after all that we as a people have gone through. But I also believe that the power to change it lies within those of us who live and care about the future of African Americans. We often talk between one another, but we no longer unite so that our voice becomes one voice where those in whom we have elected into office will have to take notice and make some changes. We cannot only fault our government, when we refuse to take a stand, then they leave everything as is. We must come together as a people for the betterment of our children and future generations. When i was staying in Florida, I attended a Neighbor Watch meeting at a local church where a few City Council members attended. The one thing that I remember them saying is that "The Squeaky Wheel Gets Oiled The Most." Meaning if we do not constantly bring it to the attention of those who are empowered to make a difference, then they will not do anything about it, or if they do, it will only be a minimum change that they will make."

About   (request update)
I believe the thing that make me special and unique is my relationship with my God. I believe that all humans are unique and that my fingerprints are God's stamp of approval for me to be me and not to try and copy anyone in anything that I do. Most people never take the time to discover their very own special uniqueness in God, therefore they copy what they see others do in order to get what others have. I went from being physically abused as a child, to doing drugs and alcohol in my late teens (my father died when I was 14 years old, he was 39 years old), to giving my life unto the Lord at 29 years old, until now, discovering, developing, and maximizing the things that God placed inside of me from the foundation of the world. There is potential within all of us, we must learn to manifest outwardly that in which God has placed inside of us.
My Interview Question
How do you feel about the educational disparities in the US between African American communities and predominantly White communities?
Current Whereabouts:
I like to read in order that i may obtain information on how I can do my share to help out those in our communities. I believe that the human mind is the greatest and most potent tool in the world, but we do not always take the time to develop it for maximum results. I believe that my successes and failures need to be shared with the next generation. Regardless of whether they apply it now, later, or never, they have more options to choose from. Right now one of my greatest projects that I am working on in to promote Christian Unity throughout our communities. I try and take advantage of the moments that are presented to me. I had to quit working about a year ago to care for my mother who has Dementia. Therefore I continue to prepare myself for the work that the Lord would have for me to do.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
I want to be one of the best Pastors in the world. My goals is not to preach people happy, but to help them understand the power and potential that is within them. Also to help Christians understand that we have a responsibility unto the Lord to discover, develop, and maximize the gifts and talents that He (God) has placed inside of us. I also plan on being a best selling author, and maybe writing some Inspirational plays, as well as books of Inspirational poems.
