Q&A With Lesley Knight

Where does Jesus stand in your life?
"In the driver's seat."

Interviewed by christina mitchell 10/24/08

What are your favorite movies?
""Sudie and Simson", "Pay it Forward", "What Dreams May Come", "The Abyss (Director's Cut)", and "Stand and Deliver". Just to name a few..."

Interviewed by Joseph Fenner 10/14/08

What book have you read that changed your life?
"My BIBLE! His word brings His presence, what more can I do to change my life than that?"

Interviewed by Pam Perry 10/12/08

What one thing would you like to change in the world?
"People who judge the books by their cover. The books that I am refering to are us. Each of us has a unique story called life and the cover (how we look) doesn't begin to tell that story. It is once you open that front page and get to know the real person that you get a glimpse of a really good story. A book that takes a lifetime to read. It is called friendship. Thank you for your question! "

About   (request update)
At age 1, mom divorced dad because he was a "dead beat". He refused to work a job for less than $5/hr in 1973, in construction which is hard enough weather permitting. By 2, mom divorced dad #2 because he beat her, and me. By 3, mom married dad #3. He was a good dad and roll model. An argument about money, or the mismanagement thereof, sent him to an early grave and he died when I was 12. At 5, I was molested by the neighbor's boy. I forgave him once I found out his mother was wicked. When she didn't have a man in her life, her son took his place. He was merely trying to show general affection, like we all do, he just didn't know any other way. At 7, I learned to drive a truck! and feel like I had a purpose in this life. At 13, I was given a choice, Mom or Grandma, not both. I chose Mom, to my dismay. Grandma is where my faith was nourished and my belief in God founded. At 14, I was raped by a skinhead and beaten for speaking to a black girl at my school. Oh, and at 9 I was beaten by a black girl with an umbrella, who believed a false rumor of me mollesting a mutual friend's sister. At 15, I let home and never went back. At 16, I was stupid! At 17, met and married my husband of 17 years, straight out of the penetentiary. Two months before my 18th birthday, I gave birth to my first child, my only daughter. She died of SIDS the week before her first Christmas. By New Years I was pregnant again. At 25, I stopped having children because the burden of them falling asleep was too much to bear. At 26, I woke up. At 27, I took inventory and did research. At 28, I took action. At 30, I adopted Mama MR, and grew into a real woman. At 32, I gave my husband a wake up call. At 33, I left everything behind and moved to Mississippi to help rebuild and restore after Katrina. The best thing I've ever done. All 5 of us lived in the van for 8 days. Then we found God's Katrina Kitchen, and lived comfortably together in a 9x10 storage building, complete with portable toilets, outdoor showers, and a tent kitchen 100 ft from my door. We all worked 18 hour days, feeding all sorts of people! and rebuilding their homes and lives. Today I am 34, and still stepping. In less than 60 days I will be 35, and I look forward to a bright future in the knowledge that, even when everyone else, and everything else are gone, My Daddy is still with me. He's always been their. I want to hear Him say, Well done, good and faithful servant.
