About   (request update)
Born Teray Andria Allen on February 14, 1983, in Bartow, Florida, Teray Allen began a journey that would lead her to become a premiere Fashion Designer in Atlanta, Ga.
Although growing up on a farm in Polk City, Florida was far from New York runways, a sewing machine was not. Her mother and grandmother frequently used sewing machines and it was inevitable that Teray would pick up the skill. At school however, Teray was not known for her fashion sense, rather her intellect. She won first place in the Auburndale Middle School 6th grade spelling bee. Some of her classmates laughed at her."It wasn't cool to be smart," she said. She kept her nose in books and rarely talked. She had a passion though, a passion for art.
Her first model was Barbie. She sewed the clothes right onto the doll. Then, she learned to sew quilts with her grandmother Isabell Allen. They put together many quilts and later she taught Teray to sew dresses. Teray also watched her mother, Pauline Allen, make prom dresses and their school clothes one year. Her teacher even asked Teray if her mother would make her an outfit.
After graduating from Auburndale Senior High School in 2001, Teray wanted to pursue an Architecture Degree. The nearest College, Polk Community College, did not have Architecture as a major. It didn't have any type of Art classes. While at Polk she made many outfits for herself and her close friends. Polk was short lived and her mother made arrangements for her to live in Atlanta with her aunt. Teray decide that she would take her childhood talents and turn them into a career, so she decided to major in Fashion Design. This didn't make her mother very happy.
"Fashion isn't a career where I'm from. No one we knew was a Fashion Designer, so that meant I was reaching too far, Teray commented."
Teray Later enrolled at Bauder College in Atlanta, Ga where she received her Associates degree in Fashion Design. In 2007 she debuted her "Teray Jeans," coining the phrase "Teray Jeans, I've got mine." This year she began the ground work for Baibelle her women's collection. It will be available in several boutiques around Atlanta.
